For most cars, where the same key is used for the ignition and doors, originating a key is just a basic service ranging somewhere between $60 and $120, depending on the make, model and year. If your key is a transponder key or a VATS key, there may be an additional charge due to the cost of the transponders and the programming. For most transponders, the added cost is approximately $25 per key, including the programming.
